Did anyone else notice that Butch Vig appears to have devil horns throughout most of this video ? I’m sure that Butch is a very nice man, but I wonder if the camera people went out of their way to line his head up with that wall hanging ?
Wow, it’s amazing hearing the soloed tracks. The doubled vocals are brutal.
That Classic Albums – Nevermind video is a study in the whole being greater than the sum of the parts. There’s another clip on Youtube where Vig talks about Polly and you hear Novoselic’s bass solo’d for a few seconds … Holy crap, that guy couldn’t play his instrument! Yet the song still works.
While this is a very interesting look at the production of a major hit, it has confirmed something that I’ve thought may be true for some time – that Butch Vig is a phenomenally dull man.
