Interesting article.
One small correction. It is not KBps, it should be kbps or kb/s. The lower-case k is for the prefix kilo, the upper-case K is for the symbol Kelvin. b is for bit, and B is for Bite. 1 Bite = 8 bit

Ya Darren, that's how I do it on http://www.wakingupinaugust.com .. The freebies are 128, and for the most part they're fine (certainly good enough for the car or the iPod. ) The pay-fers are 192 ... No FLAC, though. That's a good idea!

One of my ideas was to offer 128kbps downloads for regular download, then offer higher-quality encodes, and even FLAC downloads, to people who donate money or buy merchandise from me, as a sort of reward or bonus. It was a thought, anyway, and one of many.

I thought I'd mention it, since it sorta-relates to this story. Truth to tell, I'm still a good ways away from making any music just yet.
